Like most of you all, and as I shared on Instagram, I am READY for elections to be done, for the world to stop spinning in all of these big emotions. I am ready to have some sort of plan to beat COVID rather than feeling like we’re sitting in the boxing ring, dancing around, but not actually putting up our fists (We just keep allowing ourselves to be sucker-punched while defenseless).
I am READY.
I am ready to kick back and enjoy the holidays in a new way. They will look different but, honestly, I feel like I need them more than ever. I am ready to spend some days not worrying about virtual schooling (another quarter of online was announced for us so we’re just keeping our fingers crossed our 6th grader sees a school building at some point in 2021) and virtual work.
I am ready to travel again, to feel like I have freedom to pursue what fills me. I am ready to see people in real life again.
I am READY.
Of course, I am not in control of the world. So while I sit here ready and waiting, I have to find ways to keep myself sane and happy and mentally fit.
Here are some things I am loving as of late.

Our Family Friday Five picks this week include:
1- This book. I love it so much I even sent a copy to my brother (who you’ve all met now!).
2- This easy bread recipe. It is making chilly, rainy fall days cozy and comfortable. (Note it’s extremely important to preheat your Dutch oven inside the oven.)
3- The old HBO series Newsroom. How did I miss that when it was a thing?! It is fantastic.
4- My online coursework. During the pandemic, as part of my COVID-related activities, I decided to start a nonprofit management certificate from Harvard. (My job has fantastic benefits for continuing education.) It is so strange to go back to school, assignments, grades and team projects. Squeezing it in between my community work for the local food bank, work, fitness, the home, the kids, my marriage, has some days felt like a little too much, but then most days it has felt so right. Stretching my brain and meeting some amazing women through our team project has been so good for me. (It’s countering my bread-induced grain brain.)
5- The new PowerSheets for 2021 have released and I am excited! They figure heavily into my plan to curl up on my couch this winter and reflect on all of the changes and things I’ve learned. You all know that goal planning and these PowerSheets have been key to my life in recent years. (If not, read about how I use these products here and here and here and here and here. Clearly, I really rely on these things and find them incredibly informative for living a fulfilling and focused life.)

I hope you all are staying sane as well. I hope that you feel as ready as I do to tackle the next season of life. And I hope you are enjoying your time together as a family. It’s always a trip, even if we are all staring at the same four walls of our house together. Stay safe!
