As you may know, we bought a used pop up camper (more on that soon) and have hit the road on some great trips. We’ve been having a blast connecting to nature and spending time as a family unit.
One of the things I love about camping is that the slew of chores that come with managing a house are simply nonexistent when your home consists of two beds, an outdoor grill, and a picnic table. Which means that once the dishes are done, there is plenty of time to be together!
We’ve been having fun with some camp games.
A good campsite game is: easy to pack and travel with, great for all ages, and not too complicated. We also don’t like games with too many pieces (like Bananagrams) because we have two young boys and losing letter tiles is a real, and constant, problem.

Here are our favorite family camping games:
Scrabble SLAM
I am a "words" girl (I own a Tshirt declaring my love of the Oxford comma, just to put that out there), so this is my personal favorite.
UNO
Such a classic, and always a hit.
Phase 10
Playing this game nearly always results in arguments regarding the rules, but that's part of the "fun."
Left Center Right
I have no idea why this game is ALWAYS exciting. A few plastic chips and a few dice, yet it always comes down to a tight finish that our youngest in particular enjoys!
QWIXX
This is another of my favorite games (we take this to breweries and wineries, too). It requires a little bit of brain work, but nothing too intense. I can't explain its strange magic, you'll have to try it.
State & Plates
This is a phone app, allowing our family to log all the license plates we see from the 50 states. Once marked as "found," the app gives facts and information about the state.
Heads Up
Also a phone app, we love acting out various animals in this version of charades. This is a great, casual group game.
Exploding Kittens
I admit, I love this game but can not seem to get my people on board (shame). But I will keep trying because....TACOCAT.
Camping is such a great way to spend quality time together as a family. If you have any other family games that are a hit around your campsite, let us know.
Happy trails!
