Let’s take a break from COVID-19 and homeschooling resources and news, shall we? Let’s take a moment to just enjoy, sit with our coffee (or tea or wine) and let our minds escape. During this time it is so critical to tend to our own mental health, parents, and allow ourselves room to breathe. I am searching for ways to tend to my own emotional needs and I haven’t found the perfect blend yet. Thus far, it is something like long solitary walks with the dog through the woods behind our house, Les Mills On Demand workouts, Pantsuit Politics podcasts, at home yoga, and setting clear boundaries and time schedules with my kids.
We’ve lived through so much in the past few years, and some of our past coping tools are certainly coming in handy. But every situation requires new awareness and assessment.
I would love your tips for making it all work and how you are keeping yourself centered. I have a hunch we’re going to be at this for awhile…
But for now, let’s focus on some wonderful things that the Internet has to give that aren’t related to the “beer virus” (can you even believe he said that?).

Well, we’re not sharing much because we aren’t doing a ton that’s interesting. Which means we are losing followers…but it’s okay, because we are living our lives true to ourselves… I have to say, though, that our Instagram story unveiling our bathroom renovation was incredibly popular. Which pleasantly surprised me, since we are not home design bloggers. But I absolutely loved the support, so thanks!

Our Family Friday Five picks this week include:
1. I am doing some house projects while keeping ourselves out of society. And I can’t decide on these. I think I want them for our basement but not sure if the idea is cooler than the implementation? I want a new way to display our travel photos that is easy and doesn’t involve frames. Thoughts?
2. I can’t even explain how much I want this T-shirt. Too dorky? Or should I just own my feelings on this?
3. We are slowly moving our toiletries to waste-free and plastic-free items after our Grand Cayman trip. So I started using this shampoo bar and, surprisingly, I LOVE IT. And it lasts longer than shampoo in a bottle, so I consider it a win all around. The peppermint one smells heavenly.
4. Have I mentioned this book yet? I am not generally a true crime person, but this book was fantastic, especially if you love To Kill a Mockingbird.
5. We hung this wallpaper in our hallway upstairs. While the quality isn’t great (it is basically upgraded contact paper), it turned out to be beautiful on the wall! We are so pleased.

We still believe, that no matter how hard or challenging it may seem, being with family is still the most important thing there is. So during these strange times, we encourage you to, like us, try to knit together a life inside your home that you can enjoy. Take control of the schedule and be the home you want to be. Because no matter where it takes you, even if that’s right where you are, the best trip is still a family one.
