Easy Smoothie Recipes

There are smoothie recipes all over the Internet and health magazines. But let’s be honest, many require ingredients that simply aren’t native to our pantries and refrigerators. Yet smoothies are so tasty, delicious and filling that most mornings they are what we start with.

Through the years, we have been experimenting with various smoothies and here are our favorites, and easiest. If you are one of those parents who preps the night before (can you come teach us?), you can put everything into the blender and have it ready to pulse before running out the door.

Easy Smoothie Recipes

Smoothies are also wonderful to hide a plethora of wonderful things our bodies need but don’t ingest regularly, such as flaxseed, antioxidants, and iron. Yet, homemade smoothies are going to have far less sugar and unhealthy additives like pre-mixed ones at the grocery store. In your homemade smoothies, the fruits are fresh, the veggies real, and everything can be modified for your own taste buds.

Easy + quick + healthy + inexpensive. You can’t lose.

Here are some of our favorite easy smoothie recipes:

The Spinach Smoothie
(order matters on ingredients & no need to be exact)

  • 1 generous handful spinach (torn)
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 c strawberries, chopped
  • 1/2 c plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 c water
  • 4-5 ice cubes
  • 1 tbls honey or agave nectar
  • 1 -2 tbls flaxseed or flaxseed meal

* can also add frozen fruits such as mango, raspberries or blueberries
* this looks ugly brown/green but tastes delicious

The Peanut Butter & Banana Smoothie
recipe variation here

  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbls peanut butter
  • 3/4 c milk (soy adds nice thickness)

The Orange Dreamsicle
recipe variation here

  • 1 orange, peeled
  • 1/4 c. fat free yogurt (I use plain since I add vanilla extract, but you can skip the extract and do vanilla yogurt)
  • 1 tbls orange juice concentrate
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c water
  • 4 ice cube

The Chocolate Banana Smoothie from Against All Grain is also one of our favorites. We add more liquid than Walker calls for, but it is delicious.

Just a side note, but please don’t think you need to invest in a fancy blender or Ninja for smoothies to be part of your lifestyle. There are plenty of reasonable and functional options out there. We use a simple Hamilton Beach blender fitted with travel smoothie cups(affiliate link).

Enjoy!
